Club Championship Success Across Seniors, Juniors and Ladies Sections

Tain Golf Club has enjoyed a fantastic period of championship golf, with our Seniors, Juniors and Ladies Club Championships all producing some excellent performances, competitive matches and worthy champions.

Across the sections, it has been great to see so many players competing with pride, and the standard of golf on display has been a real credit to the club.

Seniors Club Championship

The Seniors Club Championship produced a strong week of golf, with the scratch and handicap sections both providing excellent contests.

In the Seniors Scratch Championship, Billy Ferries came through a memorable final against his brother Munro Ferries, winning 5&4 to become Seniors Club Champion. It was a standout performance from Billy, and a final that added a great family storyline to this year’s championship.

In the Seniors Handicap Championship, Charlie Finleyson came out on top against Iain Cooper to secure the title. Charlie’s consistency and determination throughout the competition were fully deserving of the win.

Well done to Billy and Charlie on their victories, and credit also to Munro and Iain for reaching their respective finals.

Junior Club Championship

There was also plenty to celebrate in the Junior Club Championship, with our young golfers showing great promise and competitive spirit throughout the event.

The Junior Scratch Championship saw brothers Euan and Archie Cameron meet in the final. In a fantastic match, Euan battled back from 3 down to win 2 up and become Junior Scratch Club Champion. It was a brilliant comeback and a great example of resilience under pressure.

In the Junior Handicap Championship, Fraser Dobie secured the title with an excellent performance, becoming this year’s Junior Handicap Club Champion.

The junior section continues to grow, and performances like these are a great sign for the future of golf at Tain. Well done to Euan, Fraser, Archie and all the juniors who took part.

Ladies Club Championship

The Ladies Club Championship also produced a high standard of golf over the two rounds, with Claire Bannerman becoming the 2026 Ladies Club Champion.

Claire recorded rounds of 76 and 75 for a total of 151, finishing ahead of runner-up Mary Smith, who scored 161 with rounds of 79 and 82. Claire also won the Gordon Bannerman Trophy for the best net score in the final round of the Club Championship, with a net 71 on the better inward half.

In the Ladies Handicap Club Championship, Lisa Campbell produced two excellent rounds of 71 net for a total of 142 to claim the title. Nicola Jenkins finished runner-up on 145 after rounds of 71 and 74.

Congratulations to Claire and Lisa on their championship wins, and well done to Mary and Nicola on strong performances throughout the competition.
