Tain Golf Club would like to recognise the outstanding efforts of our Seniors Northern Counties team, who represented the club superbly during last week’s matches at Nairn Dunbar Golf Club.

The team, made up of Graham Mackintosh, Seann Sutherland, Billy Ferries and Munro Ferries, produced another fantastic run in the competition and showed great determination, teamwork and pride in representing Tain Golf Club.

Having won the event in each of the previous two years, the team arrived looking to complete a remarkable three-in-a-row. That ambition came very close to becoming reality, with the Tain side once again showing the quality and competitive spirit that has made them such strong performers in recent seasons.

The campaign got off to the perfect start with a strong 3-up victory over Moray Golf Club, giving the team real momentum heading into the next round. They then faced Deeside Golf Club 2nd Team in what proved to be another hard-fought match, with the Tain side battling well to come through by 2 holes.

Later that day, the team continued their excellent form with a superb 4-hole victory over Murcar Links Golf Club, securing their place in the final against Royal Aberdeen Golf Club.

Although they came up just short in the final, narrowly missing out on a third consecutive title, the team can be extremely proud of their efforts throughout the event. To reach the final after winning the competition in the previous two years is a fantastic achievement and reflects the strength of senior golf at Tain.

On behalf of everyone at the club, we would like to congratulate Graham, Seann, Billy and Munro on another brilliant performance. Their commitment, competitive spirit and sportsmanship were a credit to Tain Golf Club.

A huge well done, gentlemen — the whole club is proud of you.
